12 Regiment blinde du Canada, through Le Régiment de Trois-Rivières (RCAC), perpetuates the 178th Battalion, C.E.F. This battalion saw no service in France as a unit, its troops being used as reinforcements to other battalions of the Canadian Corps.

The 178th Bn, C.E.F. was authorized the battle honour "The Great War, 1917" in the Appendix to General Order No. 123 of 1929; BATTLE HONOURS awarded for the Great War, List No. 2

War of 1812 Honorary Distinction (non-emblazonable) - In 2012 the Canadian Goverment decided to award the right of perpetuation of War of 1812 Honours to current units of the Canadian Army. The 12e Régiment blindé du Canada was awarded the non-emblazonable Honorary Distinction Defence of Canada – 1812-1815 – Défense de Canada in perpetuation of the actions of the following War of 1812 units of the pre-Confederation Militia:
